Can Japanese bantams fly?

Japanese bantams can and do fly but like most chickens they prefer to keep their feet on the ground if they can.

My Japanese bantams have always been quite good flyers as far as chickens go. They will get over fences quite easily and like all chickens, they like spending time in trees if they can.

Over the years one of the biggest problems I have had is the cockerels getting out of their breeding pens. If you want to keep your breeding pens pure they will need a cover of some sort.

None of my Japanese bantams have ever struggled to get to the high perches in the coop.
